Finished piece

Finally finished my piece for the AngloPlat competition, last week Thursday. I was Happy with my piece, I had a bit of a scare when it was brought to my attention that I had forgotten to stamp my piece. The problem was fixed and all was well got it into the packaging and filled in all the forms, allthe stress done.......until next year

My S&W extreme Ops karambit

It arrived on wednesday, I must say it is smaller than expected thankfully. Very solid feel to it, there is no blade play what so ever; in either direction. It is a frame lock so it is nice firm lock and it fits perfectly into my hand.

Anglo progess

Here is the African blackwood shak for my AngloPlat design, The wood has not been polished yet. Over all I am more happy with this one than I was the Previous, It's slimmed down and less "chunky" thanks to friendly advice from peers and lecturers. Just have to weigh it and that's that for the wood work for now.

ANgloProgress

It's coming along, just roughly shaped the Ring part of the piece. Need to make some Adjustments, but other than that I hope you're getting the idea as it materialises. At the moment It is looking disproportionate but the platinum piece having to be bigger is one of the adjustments I mentioned. The Platinum Version will be featuring an African blackwood shank which will create a very nice contrast.

Smith&Wesson CK32C

I Have just purchased myself one of these, This is the Smith&Wesson ans you can see. The model is CK32C or otherwise known as the extreme ops Karambit. I will let you know what I think of it when I receive it and give it a good look over. This marks the start of a more educated collection of knives.

AngloPlat

I finally came to a design that I'm happy with, I will start on the prototype tomorrow. It does capture my original idea of of A Zulu ax on display, the "stand" serves as a display when taken off the finger. It almost looks like a sword on display too, but I will get cracking and see how I feel about it when it's in my hand

AngloPlat Prototype

These are some pieces I was working with for the AngloPlat competition, I was drawing inspiration from the axes of Africa. The are forged and each tribe has it's shape of Ax, my favorite at the moment seem to be the two on the left of the screen

Oom se mes

I have just finished This knife on Thursday morning at 1:30 am, Fanie had started making this knife for his dad, Oom Josef. I didn't  want to change it too much because I didn't want to remove all his handy work and all the that was "Fanie" from his knife, I still wanted it to look like it came from Fanie. So I just sanded the and finished it off a little removed all the angle grinding marks from the blade and rebound the leather onto the handle and made use of a baseball stitch to stitch a piece of leather over the first layer.

Anvil

Today I learned a valuable lesson, I learned about cats iron, cast steel and forged anvils. I went to the shop(Name purposefully ommitted) and bought and anvil that i was wanting to buy. Only to shortly find out by accident, whilst looking up types of anvils. that i had just bought a cast iron anvil. Cast iron anvils and softer that steel anvils, when struck with a hammer they do no resonate as much and hammer strikes ten to transfer all force into the anvil. A steel anvil will cause the hammer to rebound and the anvil will make a ping sound. So tomorrow I will be returning this anvil, I will just have to wait until a good steel one turns up. Remember always rather spend a little more or save a little bit longer and "buy good once!"
