Dug up out of the back yard

I was peeping over our yard wall into the property next door it was bought and is being cleared away of all trees. When I jumped back down I saw part of this strange looking object emerging. I'm not sure what it is but it looks like a bell.
I know that the area I live in, many years ago was a farm a very BIG farm. I once found riffle shells in the backyard whilst snooping around with my dogs. Who knows what this is?

creative patterning

http://blindspotjewellery.carbonmade.com/projects/4964283
I got distracted this morning while I was, fixing a power point presentation. I came across this website the jeweller name is János Gábor Varga . I really enjoy his inovative approach to achieving the patterening on his jewellery but also the manner in which he builds the piece. He takes pieces of steel or iron and bends it, he cuts line and groves into it, then he unfolds it and the patterns and objects take shape. Take a look at these!

Anvils

I thought it would a great idea to look up a thing or two about the types of anvils. More for my own trivial pursuit, it's one of the things people don't worry about much anymore . To most people an anvil is an anvil is an anvil(that was fun to type), little do people think that the different items needing to be smithed require different anvils. This picture depicts just a handful of different anvils.

Karabit martial arts

This video is from insidemartialarts.tv, its just a promo for the martial art. It looks like a brutal manner to defend one self.

Karambit Knife

Cold Steel Nightshade FGX Karambit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karambit
This is a knife I have just stumbled across, It is called the karambit. It finds its origins in Indonesia , the design was derived from an agricultural implement usually used for uprooting plants. It has been further modified over the hundreds of years to resemble the claws of the big cats such as the tiger and puma. This picture is a modern design of the traditional, this is what you would call a Tactical model karambit.

After attending the durban easter knife show, I've been doing some research on the "Dangerous Weapons Bill". I've been wanting find out the laws on carrying knives, since I'll be making them over the course of the next two year and hopefully for a very long time after.

Case hardening

Only after I had done the differential tempering process on my blade and spring, did I find out about case hardening. I wasn't sure what steel I had used for knife blade and spring, so I searched"How to harden and temper mild steel?" I came across this video and many articles on case hardening. I learned that gunsmiths use mild steel to machine parts, I thought to myself "Isn't mild steel to week for all the wear and tear a gun goes through?"then I learned what case hardening is.
